Celenbrating 65 Years of the GYFL!

For 65 years, the GYFL has been more than just a league — it’s been a community tradition. From the first kickoff to this season’s games, generations of players, coaches, and fans have built a legacy of teamwork, sportsmanship, and pride.

This milestone is a tribute to everyone who has worn the uniform, cheered from the sidelines, volunteered their time, and kept the spirit of youth football alive in Greenwich.

It started with 3 teams in 1961 by ‘Dutch’ King, the Director of the Recreation Department for the Town of Greenwich at the time, as The Gateway Youth Football League. Over the past 65 years, it has turned into an organization that reaches hundreds of players every year— shaping not only athletes, but developing leaders and building lifelong friendships.

Here’s to 65 years of memories, milestones, and moments that matter — and to the next chapter of the GYFL legacy.

Open to 3rd-8th graders who live or attend school in Greenwich.

Bantam 6/1/2016 to 5/31/2018

Junior 6/1/2014 to 5/31/2016

Senior 6/1/2012 to 5/31/2014

Cost

Early Bird Pricing $600

(Must register before June 15th!)

Regular Season Registration Fee $725

(June 16- July 6th)

Late Registration after July 6th: Registrations on or after this date are subject to a 50% increase in fees.

Scholarship Information

Greenwich Youth Football League (GYFL) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to providing youth in Greenwich, Connecticut, with opportunities to learn and play the sport of football. We believe financial challenges should never prevent a child from participating in our football program. To ensure accessibility, GYFL offers financial assistance when possible to families in need.

If you would like to be considered for financial aid, please click that option at check out when registering. You will not be charged at the time of registration.

To request assistance, please send a brief email outlining your circumstances to GreenwichYouthFootballLeague@gmail.com All requests will be handled with strict confidentiality and reviewed promptly by our scholarship committee.

These three forms of verification are acceptable:

Proof of income from prior tax year (2024) First two pages of the signed 1040 tax forms.
Government-issued letter or receipt of public assistance
Proof of free or reduced lunch status-such as a screenshot of your “My School Bucks”

Your request will be reviewed and the GYFL will reach out to you shortly with a decision, provided the request is received during the program’s registration period.

Customized payment plan options are also available.

Scholarship requests MUST be submitted by July 7th.
